Bricqer has great built-in tools for managing your inventory. However, we know that many of you have established workflows and rely on existing tools to manage your inventory. One of the most popular tools in the community is BrickStore, the powerful desktop application for creating and managing LEGO item lists. Today, we're thrilled to announce a significant overhaul of our BrickStore import module, designed to save you time and give you more power and flexibility.

For those new to the ecosystem, BrickStore is software you run locally on your computer, perfect for creating detailed files of your lots, complete with quantities, prices, and other information. As a desktop application, you can benefit from native features such as keyboard shortcuts and a spreadsheet-like interface. Bricqer also has robust inventory management tools built-in, but we understand that some sellers prefer the familiar interface of BrickStore for creating their inventory files. In fact, we've supported importing BrickStore files into your Bricqer inventory for years already.

Importing BrickStore files

Previously, importing a BrickStore file meant processing it as a part-out, where you would see all the items and need to confirm them individually. While this method works well for smaller uploads, it could be time-consuming for large inventory updates. We've listened to your feedback, and we're excited to announce that you can now upload an entire BrickStore file and process all the items in one go.

When you start an upload, Bricqer first performs a detailed analysis of the file. It then presents a clear, easy-to-understand summary of the proposed changes to your inventory. This preview might show that certain items will be moved to new locations, have their prices updated, or simply be added as new stock. This gives you a complete overview and full control to confirm the changes before Bricqer imports the entire file in a matter of seconds.

Robust error handling

We've also built in a smarter way to handle the inevitable errors or inconsistencies. If any items from your file fail to import, Bricqer won't leave you guessing. It will now report precisely which items failed and, better yet, allow you to download a new BrickStore file containing only those problematic items. This makes it incredibly simple to correct the data and re-upload it without having to sift through your original file. For those who prefer the classic method, don't worry—the option to import a BrickStore file as a part-out is still available. These new features are simply powerful additions to the existing system.

Merge data from your Bricqer inventory

But that's not all. We're also introducing a brand-new capability that reverses the data flow. You can now upload a BrickStore file and have Bricqer enrich it with data from your Bricqer inventory. For example, if you want to update a file with your current storage locations or apply your sophisticated Bricqer pricing formulas to the items in the file, you can now do so automatically. Bricqer will merge the data and provide you with an updated BrickStore file to download. This is great for keeping your local files in sync with your live, cloud-based inventory.

These updates are designed to save you valuable time, reduce friction in your workflow, and bridge the gap between your favorite local tools and the power of the cloud. We are committed to supporting the way you work, and we can't wait for you to try out these new improvements. Log in to your Bricqer account and experience the new, streamlined BrickStore import process today!
